Susan Thomas married Watson Cooke Lindsey 9 Aug 1915

Watson Cooke Lindsey was born 11 May 1893 in St. Louis, Missouri.  He was the son of Laura Crowdis and Watson C Lindsey, a bookkeeper for Goodbar, White, and Co.  They lived at 4126 Fairfax Avenue.  The family was counted in the 1900 census in St. Louis.  In 1910, the family lived at Webster Groves in St. Louis.

Susan Thomas was born 27 December 1896 in Boston, the daughter of Michael Thomas and Elizabeth Denny.  In 1900, Susan was with her family in Boston. Susan’s mother died in 1901, when she was only 5.  Susan’s father remarried in 1904, but I have no record for Michael or his second wife, Josephine, after that marriage.  I do know that in 1910, she and younger sister Eva were boarding with a family in Reading.

Susan Thomas married Watson Lindsey on 9 Aug 1915 in Malden, MA.  They eventually had six children.  Watson registered for the WWI draft in Winthrop, MA.  He was a mechanic and draughtsman.

The family lived in Winthrop in 1920, at 85 Crystal Cove Avenue.  Watson was a draftsman for the Otis Elevator Company.  They were named in the 1929 city directory, living at 93 Shirley, and Watson was working as a draftsman in Boston.

I was not able to find the family in the 1930 census.  When Watson registered for the WWII draft, in April 1942, the family lived at 100 Cliff Avenue in Winthrop.  He worked for the town of Winthrop, but the card doesn’t give his occupation.  It does describe him as 5’8 ½”, 185 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair, and ruddy complexion.

Watson died 17 March 1961.  This information is from a tree posted on Ancestry. The location wasn’t given.  I have no records for Susan after 1942, when she was listed as Watson’s contact person for the draft.  There is a Susan Lindsey who died 24 November 1971 in Boston, but the index doesn’t list a birth date, parents, or spouse, so I don’t know if this is her.
